April Writing

Wow, so much to write about and April is not quite over.

I know I mentioned TAE author event that I went to on the 8th. It was great and I made it in one piece.

Met new authors, said hello to a friend who is also an author. It was great to see her too.

Also bought the Giving trilogy by LM Carr and she mailed the books to me which was awesome. She only brought so many copies to the event so I paid upfront and she mailed them to me.

Well, I got some good news! LM Carr contacted me through my review page and asked if I would review From A Distance.

I said yes and will try to have it read within a week. I also told her I met her at the TAE event (Talkbook Author Event) and she remembered me.

Anyways I'm happy to help her out and I started reading, already on the third chapter too. So going to read on and off today, hope to get out for a walk too.

I want to do some Disney races so I need to work on my walking then maybe running.

Now onto my vacation that was not a vacation.

My grandfather needed to go to Florida to clean out the house my gram sold. Unfortunately people who bought it already moved in. I don't know all the details so please don't ask.

So I went with him to help and help with Makayla too, she was on school vacation. The drive down went great and Makayla was very good.

It took 2 whole days of driving to get to Florida and man was the weather nice! 80 degrees and the sun was shining.

I got sick on the way down plus during the trip and coming home, not fun.

So we got what we could from the house and I had to drive a vehicle back up.

Normally I don't drive long distance and prefer not too. I also don't go out of town very often so I'm not used to driving on big highways.

So I drove back a ford van, its white and looks like a soccer mom van to me. The nice thing about it was the controls on the steering wheel so I could search the radio stations and change volume.

The drive from Florida to the Carolinas went well, the drive after that well...not so great.

I hate the New Hersey Turnpike, it's just boring plus tolls and nearly getting separated from my grandpa was scary.

He drove his truck while I drove the van. I followed behind him because he knows where to go and I don't.

So traffic wasn't bad, tolls suck and to go over The George Washington Bridge costs a lot!

Made it through it all, CT had bumper to bumper traffic at 7pm. Not sure why either.

Made it home very late but was happy to be home. This was not a vacation by any means and I wouldn't drive it either. I would rather fly then drive.

Also today I went for a walk! The sun is out which is great plus I walked 1.31 miles in less than 30minutes. I think that's great since I don't workout.

I also signed up for a 5k race next month here in Keene, NH. I'm excited too, hoping to do more.

Oh my friend Matt told me about a virtual 5k Disney race too and I signed up for all 3 months. The months are June, July and August. You can do the race anywhere and it's a 5k so it's not a long walk.

I have been wanting to do Disney races like Matt has done with his wife. They are fun and I think it's a good idea for a vacation.

Now I would do the 5k and a 10k but want to work up to a half marathon. I'm slow and I do like to take my time but if I really work at it I can do it.

I think I will track my progress starting after May 5th. I will be done with my college job for the summer and have some more time to get outside.

Today

It feels longer than Saturday's post. Maybe it was because I didn't post on here and have blogger know it was me. Oh well.

Things are good, I'm not getting enough sleep but I'm still going strong. Been reading and working plus getting ready for vacation!

Will sleep better I hope.

Anyways just wanted to do a quick update for now, may post more tomorrow.

TAE 2017

Saturday was fun and long. I made it to Peabody and home in one piece. It took just 2 hours to get there but glad I went.

The book signing was in full swing when I got there but before you think I was late this is how it works.

Talk About Books Event (TAE) had tickets online that you could buy. There was 11am which I think was also VIP, 1 and 2pm tickets. The event ended at 4pm and there was an after party too.

My ticket was for 1pm and I had to decide what author to see first. I had pre-ordered books from about 8 authors.

So I started with Janine Infante Bosco and I said hi I'm cassandra and I pre-ordered a book from you. She is from Staten  Island and she has the New York accent too. She even brought real Canolis!

I got to meet her and I watch her live feeds on Facebook so it was nice to finally meet her in person.

I was going to see BT next but he had a line so I went to Chelle Bliss next. I ordered a lot from her. I LOVE her men of Inked series so I got that, Alfa Pi series and her husband helps her.

So I had brought my backpack that has wheels on it to put everything in. I was excited to finally meet her and this was her first signing in 9 months. So I got a lot from her 😍

I went to Molly McLain next and got a book from her then on to BT, his line was short.

A lot of the authors I met yesterday I watch on Facebook live feeds or have read their other books they have out.

He signed my book called "Thirty Days" which was awesome and I started to read it last night. It's good!

I went to the next room for other books, it was less crowded and cooler in there. I got in line for Alexa Riley and thought I had pre-ordered but they didn't have me on their list which bummed me out and I got out of line.

It's ok, I can meet her another time and get her books in kindle.

I went to meet Heather D'Agostino and then to Julia Kent. After I went to M. Stratton and I said hi to K. Larson (Katie) who I met two years ago in East Long Meadow, Massachusetts at a book store.

We hugged and she was happy to see a familiar face and when I first met her I had my fire and water dragons done and now I have the rest. I showed her my arms because she noticed my earth dragon so I updated her quick. Her husband was helping her too.

I did go see LM Carr and asked if she had extra books. Most authors that go to events do a pre-order form so they don't bring too much with them.

She was out of the Giving series and I was ok about because I told her I didn't pre-order. She has extra at home and said she would ship them out on Monday for free so I paid $25 for the set.

She said she was on Spring break because she is a teacher. So I will hopefully get the books by Friday but if not it's ok cause I like getting stuff in the mail and when it's books, I'm a big dork!

So that was all that I did, I was about to leave and remembered one author was collecting change for the White Helmets. It's raising money to buy better equipment so rescuers can rescue people that have attacks on their city, village or home.

I brought my spare change with me and went to the table. They had a 1 gallon mason jar so I put in all my spare change.

After I left and started my journey home. It was long but people were having car accidents on my way home. I made it home and when I saw the New Hampshire sign it made me happy.

So I made it there and back home, my car did great and I had fun. I was exhausted when I got home but it was worth it.

TAE will on my list for next year and maybe I won't be as shy. I never know what to say to authors when I meet them besides smile and say my name.

Ok, that was my adventure for Saturday and today I have home healthcare then going to relax and do some reading.
